Unlock Runcorn’s vision is to reinstate the 570m connection between the Bridgewater and Manchester Ship Canals that follows the ‘old line’ of locks that were opened in 1776. Our vision is to use innovative, modern and traditional technologies together to create a premium tourist destination that will attract visitors and business to the town and increase economic prosperity.
The Unlocking of Runcorn will attract visitors with a variety of interests, not just boaters, and compete the two leisure boating Rings. The Runcorn Ring and the larger Cheshire Ring.
