“Unlock Runcorn” is the commonly used name and brand of an organisation officially registered with the Charity Commission as “Runcorn Locks Restoration Society” (1170027). Unlock Runcorn is a community based charity who campaign and work for the reinstatement of a link between the Bridgewater canal and the Manchester Ship Canal as a catalyst for regeneration in the town.
Whilst the charity work closely with Halton Borough Council (HBC) to access funding for specific projects, Unlock Runcorn is an independent organisation. It is run by volunteers and dependent on subscriptions, donations and fundraising to cover its running costs (eg. Insurance, accountancy fees, IT etc.).
